GreenHouse Structures Built For Performance

Multi-Span Dragon Fruit Greenhouse Project in Dongyuan, Heyuan

Growers in Dongyuan, Heyuan were expanding their dragon fruit plantations but faced several environmental challenges. The open-field cultivation and older greenhouse structures made it difficult to control nighttime temperatures, which are critical for flowering and fruit setting. During the rainy season, excessive moisture and poor airflow created ideal conditions for fungal diseases, while inconsistent light exposure affected the sweetness and coloration of the fruit. To stabilize production, growers needed a more climate-responsive multi-span film greenhouse.

FANGCHENG conducted a detailed assessment of the site’s climate, terrain, and crop requirements. A strengthened multi-span film greenhouse was designed with higher roof clearance to improve natural airflow, along with ridge and side ventilation to regulate humidity more effectively. High-transparency film enhanced light penetration essential for dragon fruit photosynthesis, while integrated shading and insulation systems helped maintain ideal temperature ranges during both hot days and cool nights. Anti-insect screens and optimized drainage channels were added to reduce disease pressure during rainy periods.

Once completed, the greenhouse provided a controlled and stable growing environment year-round. Dragon fruit plants developed more uniform growth, flowering became more consistent, and fruit quality improved in terms of size, sweetness, and appearance. The growers saw significantly reduced disease losses, higher yields per season, and more predictable production cycles—making the new greenhouse a valuable upgrade for long-term commercial cultivation.
