Growers in Boluo, Huizhou were seeking a more stable environment for bitter melon cultivation. Their older open-field or simple shelters could not protect crops from heavy rainfall, heat buildup, or sudden temperature changes. During humid periods, fungal diseases frequently appeared, while poor ventilation caused weak vine growth and reduced fruit set. These conditions made it difficult to achieve steady yield and high-quality production throughout the year.

FANGCHENG designed a reinforced greenhouse specifically tailored to the growing habits of bitter melon. The structure incorporated increased roof height and side ventilation windows to improve airflow and prevent heat accumulation. High-transparency film ensured sufficient sunlight for vigorous vine development, while optional shading layers protected the plants on extremely hot days. An upgraded drainage system helped reduce excess moisture during rainy seasons, lowering the risk of disease. Insect-proof screens were also added to minimize pest pressure.

After the greenhouse was completed, growers noticed a clear improvement in crop performance. The internal climate became more balanced, vines grew stronger and more uniformly, and fruit setting became more consistent. Disease occurrences dropped significantly, and overall yield increased with better fruit quality. The greenhouse helped the plantation achieve more reliable, season-long production.
