The Tea Research Institute of the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences required a controlled environment to support tea seedling research and the development of new cultivation techniques. Yingde’s climate, characterized by strong seasonal humidity and temperature fluctuations, made it challenging to maintain consistent growth conditions in open-field trials. To achieve more reliable experimental results, the institute needed a modern greenhouse capable of providing stable temperature, humidity, and light conditions throughout the year.

FANGCHENG designed a multi-span film greenhouse tailored to scientific research applications. The structure provides a bright, evenly lit interior, essential for observing early tea growth stages. Improved ventilation was integrated through side openings and roof vents to regulate humidity—an important factor in tea seedling development. The film covering delivers balanced light transmission while protecting the plants from heavy rain, fog, and sudden weather changes common in northern Guangdong.
During installation, the layout of the greenhouse was coordinated with the institute’s research workflow, including space for trial areas, seedling tables, and irrigation systems. The reinforced frame ensures reliability for long-term research use, and the modular structure allows future expansion if additional experimental zones are required.

After the facility was commissioned, researchers reported more consistent seedling performance, better environmental control, and fewer interruptions caused by unpredictable weather. The greenhouse provided a dependable platform for ongoing tea research, supporting the institute’s work in improving tea varieties and refining cultivation techniques suitable for Guangdong’s diverse tea-growing regions.
