South China University planned to upgrade its science education garden with a modern greenhouse that could support teaching, research, and public demonstration. The previous facilities were outdated, with unstable temperature and humidity levels that limited the variety of plants students could study. Visitor pathways were narrow, the lighting environment was uneven, and the structure could not adequately support hands-on experiments or long-term plant observation. The university needed a greenhouse that balanced education, research functionality, and visitor experience.
FANGCHENG worked closely with the university’s teaching and research teams to design a multi-functional greenhouse for science education. The new structure used high-transparency film and increased interior height to improve light distribution and provide comfortable walking space. A controlled ventilation system stabilized the indoor climate for diverse plant species, while modular planting zones were created for experiments, demonstrations, and course activities. Safety features, such as reinforced frames and anti-slip walkways, were added to support high visitor traffic.
After completion, the greenhouse became a core part of the university’s science education program. Students gained access to a stable, hands-on learning environment, teachers could conduct long-term plant experiments more effectively, and visitors enjoyed a more engaging educational experience. The project successfully transformed the garden into a modern, interactive science space.
