The dragon fruit growers in Huidong were expanding their plantation but faced challenges due to the region’s strong sunlight, high humidity, and frequent seasonal rainfall. Traditional open-field cultivation made it difficult to stabilize nighttime temperatures—an essential factor for flowering and fruit setting. Excess humidity often led to fungal diseases, while inconsistent light distribution affected fruit color and sweetness. To achieve higher-quality and more predictable yields, the growers needed a more controlled growing environment.
FANGCHENG designed a customized greenhouse solution specifically suited for dragon fruit production. A reinforced multi-span structure was used to withstand coastal weather conditions, while high-transmission film allowed sufficient light for vigorous photosynthesis. Ridge and side ventilation systems improved airflow, reducing heat buildup during sunny days and lowering moisture levels during the rainy season. Additional shading, drainage enhancements, and anti-insect screens helped maintain stable crop conditions and minimize disease pressure.
After completion, the greenhouse created a far more consistent microclimate for the dragon fruit plants. Flowering became more uniform, fruit quality improved in terms of size, sweetness, and skin color, and disease incidents significantly decreased. The base achieved higher seasonal yields and more stable production cycles, strengthening its overall market competitiveness.
